Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals essential for normal growth and development. These are needed in very small amounts, compared to macronutrients, (fat, carbohydrate and protein), that are required in large amounts, for survival.

The healthiest way to obtain vitamins and minerals is from a well rounded diet including five to nine daily servings of vegetables and fruits. It is often difficult to consistently eat a healthy diet. For that reason a micronutrient supplement should be taken to insure a daily intake of these critical substances.

A Supplement to Fill Your Needs
Many times I have heard people say, "I just take the cheapest multivitamin and figure it will be okay." "I buy the premium brand that the clerk recommends but I really don't know why it is good or if it is." "I wish I could ask someone about what to take." "I wonder what doctors take?"

Oregon Supplement Plan (OSP) is a formulation based on my ongoing search of the medical and nutritional literature. I am dedicated to providing the ingredients and dosages I feel most accurately reflects the current thinking for vitamin, mineral, plant nutrient, and antioxidant supplementation.

The potential benefits of supplementation are large and the side effects small or non-existent. The daily diet of most people simply does not contain the quantities of vitamins and minerals to maximize health and minimize the aging process. OSP contains these ingredients in a balanced formulation.

OSP contains the micronutrients needed at a level beneficial for all ages with the exception of children under ten. Pregnant women should consult their physicians for their special needs.

Iron is absent to avoid the masking of blood loss. If iron is needed it should be recommended by a physician. If you take anticoagulants you should check with your physician before starting this product as it contains vitamin K and vitamin E and your medications may need to be adjusted.

Research has shown that the antioxidant properties of some plant compounds are highly beneficial and they have other properties that may help prevent disease and provide vigor. There are several ingredients in this formulation that will supplement your fruit and vegetable intake.

The OSP Difference
Why does OSP require six caplets per day? The volume of ingredients with a high quality formulation profile simply cannot be stuffed into one or two pills. One or two a day products cannot provide adequate supplementation.

Even with six caplets per day there is not an attempt in OSP to provide 100% of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) for all the ingredients. Most people taking supplements today are trying to eat healthy diets. These usually contain foods fortified with a number of micronutrients. It is important to avoid excesses of certain micronutrients and I have considered that in my formulation.
