BIOTIN

Function:
Biotin is a member of the B complex vitamin group. It is a coenzyme in several reactions needed for fat and protein processing.

Recommended Dietary Allowance:
The AI for adults is 30 mcg per day.

Deficiency:
Deficiency has occurred only in unusual artificial environments and does not occur in the general population.

Sources:
Biotin is widely distributed in foods, but the best sources are liver, nuts, cauliflower, and sardines.

Toxicity and UL:
There have been no reported adverse effects from excess intake, hence no UL.

Recommendation:
No daily supplementation is necessary.
